- City of Scientific Research and Technological Applications (SRTA-City) is one of the recent scientific research institutions in Egypt, SRTA-City was founded in 1993, where the Presidential Decree was issued to establish 12 research institutes and technological centers. The official opening SRTA-city was on August 13th, 2000. Since then, SRTA-city has been working on acquiring and applying the newest scientific technologies in different areas of industrial aspects as well as human life. Currently, the research focus of SRTA-City is directed to Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, Informatics Technology, Advanced Technology and New Materials, Arid Lands Cultivation, Environment and Natural Material, Pharmaceutical and Fermentation Industries Development, and Technology Capabilities Development research areas. In addition, our Institution goals are to develop new feasible technology-based solutions for medical, industrial, agricultural, and environmental problems and to build capacity in various technological fields.
- SRTA-City was established to be a Science Park in the northern coast of Egypt that includes Technology-based Business Incubators (TBI) for small and medium-sized industries and to host local and international joint Venture Companies. SRTA-City Science Park should help the Egyptian economy through the development and renovation of the Egyptian industrial sector by employing knowledge-based strategies to develop the existing technologies or by adopting technology transfer strategies to replace the obsolete ones.
- SRTA-City would play an important role in adopting advanced technologies and provide skills, knowledge and facilities also it will bridge between government and industries to the point that these technological developments would be accessible to a wide range of users for commercial and welfare purpose.
- Providing and ensuring a stimulating and attractive environment for creativity and innovation with a focus on science and technology and its applications in community development.
- Enhancing the Egyptian capacities for innovation, where education, research and technology merge in one road leading to innovative enterprises, the products of which are targeted towards solving local economic and national problems.
- Strengthening all elements involved in the four Ps chain (publications, patents, prototypes and products)
- SRTA-City Science Park will be a hub for high technology and innovative research related businesses, with a focus on technology transfer and product advancement, especially in biopharmaceutical, molecular biomedicine, nanotechnology and Information Technology.
- Reaching technological products by linking research and development processes with technology mechanisms and market needs.
- Forming small production units at the semi-industrial level and cooperation between scientific research and industry within the framework of strengthening the national strategy in the knowledge-based economy, community service and sustainable development.
