At SRTA-City: Training Workshop “Western Blot Practical Techniques: Achieving Reliable and Reproducible Results”

Professor Dr. Mona Mahmoud Abdel Latif, the city director, and Professor Dr. Aber Abdel Wahab, the supervisor of the Center for the Development of Pharmaceutical, Medicinal, and Fermentation Industries, inaugurated the training workshop “Protein Identification Techniques by Western Blot: Achieving Reliable and Reproducible Results.” The 2nd International Conference of the City of Scientific Research and Technological Applications held this workshop on September 4-5, 2024, at the Pharmaceutical and Fermentation Industries Development Center (PFIDC). A group of specialists from Agitech for Integrated Scientific Instruments delivered the lectures, with the participation of Dr. Alan Lawton, Business Development Manager at Bio-Rad, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Doaa Ahmed Ghareeb, a professor at PFIDC and the coordinator of the training workshop. Members of the research and teaching staff from various research centers and universities, along with postgraduate students (Master’s, Ph.D.), attended the event. Professor Dr. Mona Abdel Latif emphasized the importance of holding courses aimed at increasing the laboratory and practical skills of young researchers and workers in various industrial fields to develop their skills in line with global market requirements and enhance local industries to compete with global industries. Professor Dr. Abeer Abdel Wahab highlighted the critical role the center plays in supporting the pharmaceutical industries by conducting preclinical studies for Egyptian companies and supporting scientific research through partnerships with various entities. The center has the laboratory and human resources capabilities to support research and consultations in its field of specialization. Professor Dr. Doaa Ahmed Ghareeb, the workshop coordinator, emphasized the importance of various protein identification techniques in drug discovery, or the diagnosis and determination of disease causes, as well as vaccine production. She added that collaboration with experts and specialists from the equipment manufacturing company provides high-efficiency training on the latest techniques and insights on solving issues related to analysis results and equipment.
