Within the framework of the Scientific Research and Technological Applications City’s role in achieving international scientific cooperation and moving towards localizing modern technologies and techniques, Prof. Dr. Mona Abdel Latif, Director of the City, received Prof. Dr. Hesham El-Anshasy, Professor at the Faculty of Chemical and Energy Engineering and Director of the Institute of Advanced Agricultural and Bioprocess Technologies at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and former Assistant Director of the Scientific Research and Technological Applications City for Research Institutes Affairs, on Monday, October 28, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Rashad Abdel Fattah, Deputy Director of the City for Scientific and Research Affairs.Prof. Dr. Mona Abdel Latif confirmed that the visit came to discuss ways of joint cooperation between the city and the Malaysian University of Technology, and to coordinate the renewal of the cooperation agreement signed between the city and the university, which aims to conduct joint research with economic and industrial returns through the production of natural products in the fields of agriculture and health, as this comes within the framework of the city implementing its pioneering role in cooperation between research institutions with their international counterparts in accordance with the National Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation 2030, and also in order to achieve the axes of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in all specializations and the extent of its ability to contribute to supporting international scientific cooperation as one of the distinguished scientific expertise houses in Egypt.Prof. Dr. Mona Abdel Latif also gave a detailed presentation on the city, its research institutes, ongoing scientific activities and projects, scientific services and prototypes in the city. The visit included an inspection tour of the city’s various laboratories, where Prof. Dr. Hesham El-Anshasy praised the city’s capabilities and laboratory equipment and the expertise and knowledge of the research body members to serve many fields, most notably the agricultural and health fields.
Prof. Dr. Mona Mahmoud Abdel Latif, Director of the City, announced the inclusion of 12 researchers in the city on Stanford University’s list of the top 2% of the most influential scientists in the world in more than 50 scientific specializations in various scientific fields. The list was published on September 17, 2024. She added that this reflects the city’s efforts to improve the quality of scientific research and international publishing in various scientific fields and the city’s continuation of supporting the members of the Research Authority to increase their knowledge and keep pace with everything new in the performance of their research work, which in turn is reflected in the city’s position in general in local and international classifications of centers, institutes and research bodies. The list included: Prof. Dr. Mohamed Samir Mohi El-Din, Research Professor at the Advanced Technology and New Materials Research Institute, Prof. Dr. Noura Al-Ahmadi Al-Najjar, Research Professor at the Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Research Institute, Prof. Dr. Al-Badawy Abdel Aziz Kamoun, Research Professor at the Advanced Technology and New Materials Research Institute, and Prof. Dr. Tamer Mahmoud Tamer, Research Professor at the Advanced Technology and New Materials Research Institute as the top 2% of scientists in the world in terms of total scientific production (whole career) and scientific production for this year (single year). The classification is on two levels: the first is based on the researchers’ career path throughout the work period (whole career-long data), and the second is at the level of a calendar year (single year).
